Whole Foods Market
MV+A planned the site on Philadelphia’s Main Line and led the entitlement process through Lower Merion Township. We are the architects for both the shell and grocery interiors. The project exemplifies MV+A’s ability to thread complex grocery programs into tight infill sites using creative planning and dynamic architecture.
Taking advantage of the site’s topography we planned a two-level store. The main sales floor is on the upper level with half of the parking on grade in front. The lower level includes the remaining parking in a garage with a lively pub and additional sales floor facing the street. Lancaster Avenue is the main street of the Main Line’s many small towns including Wynnewood. Following the development patterns of the last 100 years the building sits prominently on the street with modern transparent facades revealing Whole Foods’ vast offerings.
